Brian Yates is a tenured Professor at American University in Washington DC. He has 99 publications, including 5 books. Most apply cost-effectiveness or cost-benefit analysis to formative evaluation of health and human services including youth mentoring, parenting training, prevention and treatment of substance abuse using gender-sensitive residential programs and computer-based therapy, suicide prevention, therapies for depression, obesity, and seasonable affective disorder, and emergency assistance for political activists. Dr. Yates teaches online courses in self-management, theories of personality, and health psychology, having developed and taught courses in community psychology, behavioral medicine, research methods, and program evaluation.
